5 Things To Do Outside San Diego Comic Con To Experience San Diego

I LIVE for San Diego Comic Con!  BUT I also LOVE San Diego!  There are so many fun and relaxing things to do, in and around the Convention Center, here are a five of my top favorites!
1. Coronado
This my favorite place in all of San Diego! It is so classic and relaxed! You can catch the ferry at The Convention Center and take it across the bay for $4.75 each way. {Ferry Schedule}.

*Get fresh air and rent a bike and see the island! My favorite hot spots are:
*The Hotel Del and the beach in front of it. Coronado has the best beach in San Diego!
*Then stop and have lunch at The Brigantine. Right near the Del at 1333 Orange Avenue.

A short walk over from the Convention Center {open daily 10am - 9pm} and you can enjoy the many different shops and restaurants there are. There are plenty of places to relax as well in the warm San Diego sun and places to eat! The views of the harbor and Coronado are amazing. Next door is the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum, a sight to behold!

Both the Zoo and the Park are great ways to get out of downtown and get some space between you and the craziness of the con. Stroll through each area without a sense of rush. Enjoy the views and breath the fresh air.

A one day Zoo Ticket is $56 adult, $46 child.
Balboa Park has quite a few museums, you could go there for days, here are my top picks:
4.  Sea World
If you are looking to get away from crowds, Sea World is not your place. But if you are a fan of amusement parks, Sea World is not to miss. They are growing bigger every year and now have a brand new roller coaster! This park is perfect for all ages. Tickets are $59 adults and children if you purchase online.

Belmont Park is located in Mission Beach, near Sea World. The park has many rides and games, plus a great view of the ocean. Admission is free, you pay for each ride. It is a fun place to walk around, or just hop over the boardwalk and chill on the beach.

BONUS TIPS near the Convention Center:

*The Zombie Walk runs through the Gaslamp and is a free event that you can stand around and watch OR take part in!  There are always awesome zombies and they are so great at staying in character! Follow them on Twitter for more updates @sdzombiewalk.

***Last tip is just walk through the Gaslamp...one year I came across a Robert Kirkman signing and there were about 10 people in line. WAAAAYYY easier to get into than ANY signing on the show floor!!
