Geek Girls Gab with Adie

I'm Adie (aka Toots), a Londoner born and bred, and now living in rural Scotland. I'm married with three children, aged 8, 10 and 14.  I love all things Nerd.  By day, I'm a mild-mannered accounting manager for a small family-run business in the village in which I live. By night, alongside the sister of my heart and partner in crime-fighting, Tracie, I run Sam Witwer's official fan site for love and cookies. I have also been trained in the ways of the Force.
The Nerdy Girlie:  What is your 1st nerd memory?
Adie:  Probably watching Doctor Who with my Daddy when I was a little girl. Jon Pertwee (D3) was "my" Doctor, and I loved him for being so warm and gentlemanly.

TNG:  How and why did you start blogging?
Adie:  I do have a personal blog, which I started as more of a journal in which I blogged about all manner of random stupid stuff that popped into my head; just thoughts I wanted to commit to digital memory. But then I began to notice that I was using it just to rant and moan, and realised that was neither healthy nor the real purpose of a blog. So I haven't actually updated it in over a year!  So I tend to read a lot of other people's blogs now.  They range from the very nerdy and geeky, to political, tech, religious, boring tax and accounting blogs (yes, really!) current affairs, and my friends' personal blogs.

I'm a big fan of reading in general, and I've never lost the desire or drive to feed my head. Every day I learn something new, and you don't have to watch the TV news to learn the really important stuff.

TNG:  YOUR favorite blog?
Adie:  My friend Guy has a blog called The Calm Voice of Rage. He is a brilliant man, and he always writes about the most thought-provoking subjects, sometimes topical, sometimes personal. He has a very conversational style of writing, and I always feel like my IQ goes up a few points after reading!

My buddy Chuck Hirstius is an absolute genius, possibly the most brilliant man I know, albeit in an "evil scientist" sort of way. He has a very widely-read, highly-respected tech blog, which I wouldn't dare to suggest I fully understand, but I still enjoy reading it.

TNG:  What is your favorite things to nerd out about?
Adie:  Star Wars, but with Doctor Who and Game of Thrones running a very close second and third. I'm also ridiculously excited about the upcoming Ender's Game movie. It's one of my favourite book series - both the Ender and Bean sagas - so I'm looking forward to seeing how it translates to the screen. Ender Wiggin is the one true love of my life.

The anime series "Claymore" kicked ass. I was gutted that it ended after only 26 episodes, so I live in hope that someone will be smart enough to bring it back. Until that geek-out happy day, I'll have to make do with my DVD box set and manga volumes.

Roger Zelazny's "The Great Book of Amber" desperately needs bringing to life on film. My only demand would be that my Sam gets to play the character of Corwin. First of all, he would be absolutely perfect for the role. PERFECT, I tell you!  And secondly, he's a huge fan of the Amber Chronicles, and it's unlikely that you'd find another actor who knows Corwin as well as Sam. Sometimes, I think he IS Corwin.

I'm also a big fan of The Walking Dead, LOTR, the Watchmen graphic novels, LEGO, my Xbox...I'm also in the process of collecting two chess sets - one is a DC Comics character set, and the other is The Justice League. I'm a reasonable chess player, although rather than actually play, it's likely I'll just sit and gazed adoringly at all the shiny pieces on the board.

TNG:  Any tips for San Diego Comic Con?
Adie:  There's no such thing as an impulse buy.  Everything you might purchase there is because YOU NEED IT.

TNG:  Girlie things you love?
Adie:  Unicorns, and just about everything that's available from the Her Universe online store.

Thank you so much Adie for answering our questions!  I absolutely adore her SDCC tip...that is me to a T :)  I am so glad that the inter-webs could bring us together! Follow her on Twitter: @R2DToots and @samwitwerfans PLUS visit her amazing Sam Witwer Fan site! {he is what originally brought us together!}
