The Nerdy Girlie: What is your 1st nerd memory?
Sarah: I’d have to say my first nerd memory was watching the original Doctor Who show as a kid. My uncle and cousins were really into Sci Fi and it rubbed off on me at a very young age. My cousins and I always played “Doctor Who” where we would run around pretending to be the Doctor and random companions chasing away the aliens and saving the planet.
TNG: How and why did you start blogging?
Sarah: I don’t have my own blog yet and have just gotten into social networking recently. I love Pinterest, Tumblr and all my nerdyness is amplified by Twitter. My handle for all these sites is SarJo87. It’s because of these sites that I found people with similar interests/obsessions in all things nerd and have made many new friends.
TNG: YOUR favorite blog?
Sarah: I follow quite a few blogs because of my totally random interests. My favorites are: TheNerdyGirlie.com, TheBloggess.com and YoungHouseLove.com.
TNG: What is your favorite things to nerd out about?
Sarah: Doctor Who. I can literally talk about it all day if you let me. It’s grown past an obsession now. I am a huge fan of Marvel Comics and grew up reading them all. My favorite shows are Doctor Who, Supernatural, Sherlock, True Blood and anything associated with Marvel comics. I love reading and am a big fan of the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones series. I’m also a geography major so I squeal over rock formations, fault lines and weather.
TNG: Any tips for San Diego Comic Con?
Sarah: Wear comfy shoes, bring snacks, carry cash and ride the trolly. Also if you plan on getting autographs from your favorite celebrities, bring a sharpie. I can’t tell you how many spontaneous autographs I’ve gotten over the years at Comic Con because I came ready with a sharpie and notepad at hand. Celebs appreciate it and are less likely to just walk away since you are prepared. Remember to say “please” and “thank you.”
TNG: Girlie things you love?
Sarah: I love shopping and getting mani/pedis when I can. My idea of a girls night is watching Doctor Who while playing on pinterest with a tub of cookie dough nearby. I also love driving around the San Diego mountains listening to pop music from the 90s.
Thank you Sarah for answering our questions. It has been so great finding and hanging out with another nerd girl here in San Diego and at SDCC! Ready for our next lunch date?! :)
