6 months out, it is time to start planning for the biggest con of the year, San Diego Comic Con! With just six short months until the con, here are a few things you can be doing NOW to get ready and excited for SDCC! {I cannot believe I get to say this!}
1. Make sure you have signed up for a Member ID, sign up for Comic Con emails and follow the official Comic Con on Twitter. All of these are the most important things you can be doing to get ready for the con, badge sales and staying up to date with all the official happenings.2. Cosplay Prep. All those little touches take time and money, starting now will insure you enough time to collect everything you need to make your cosplay complete! New to cosplay? Try easing into it with some Everyday Cosplay!
3. Hotel research. Find out which hotels are in your price range, where they are located and how you can get to and from the convention center. Doing this before the hotel lottery can ease your stress going into it. Also try looking into alternative boarding options: Twitter friends and Air B&B aare all great alternatives.
4. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE. Airfare, hotel, rental car, gas, food, collectibles. They ALL add up quite quickly! With a six month head start you can be sure to save enough in time for the con. Let needless purchase fall by the way side and try to ask yourself "do I REALLY need this?" Always keep SDCC in the back of your mind, the more money you can save now, the easier and more FUN the con will be come July.
5. Print out and display previous year's memories. Lots of times in the digital age, we let our photos sit in an online album. One of my favorite things to do each year is to make a collage of all my favorite pictures from the con and frame it. I have done this for every year. Whenever the new one arrives, it is fun to replace the old one and look back on all the past years memories.
Get ready nerds, SDCC will be here before you know it! Consult our SDCC guide for everything you need to prepare for the biggest con of the year! Any further questions? Please leave them in the comments below and I can answer them in future posts! If you found this helpful, don't forget to share it with your friends!
HAPPY PLANNING!

Searching for a hotel now is definitely a good idea. Last year was the first year that my husband and I were able to get tickets, so of course we hadn't looked into getting a hotel or anything (because we didn't think we'd actually get tickets lol), so we didn't book a place until right after we bought our SDCC tickets and ended up in a hotel in Oceanside. It was nice and all, but that drive after a long day of convention-going was not. We hope to stay somewhere closer this year.
Now if only badges were on sale...the agony is killing me!
Well said! I'm dying waiting for badge sales to start!
Argh! I can't believe I have to wait until 2016 to go to SDCC!
Now, I have a question I've been meaning to ask you. I truly need your expertise on the matter. I've just recently realised the error of my ways, and want to rectify the situation. You see... I've never watched Doctor Who. Nobody kill me please! Anyway, what I would like to know is... where do you suggest I start? Help me Megan, you're my only hope!
Krystelle, thank you for your comment and good luck with finding a closer hotel, Oceanside is pretty, but a very long drive!
Toni, so glad to have you as a new Whovian! My favorite episode to start with is Blink. Such a good and easy intro to DW. Then I would suggest starting at the beginning of the reboot with the 9th Doctor. That is what I did and so happy to be all caught up know! Good luck and can't wait to hear what you think!! xo
I love the idea of printing everything out from the convention the year before. It's definitely something I would love to get done. So many things get lost online and makes it hard to look at photos from the years before wrapped up in a blanket with some coffee. ;)
Good luck to everyone! I won't be making it this year but can't wait to read all the posts and tweets about it!
AWWW B I'm gonna miss you!! xx
