I stumbled upon Style Bee's 10x10 capsule closet challenge on Instagram and was completely intrigued! Along with the capsule wardrobe, I've been obsessed with Parisian simplicity and style. So bringing those both together, I'm going to share with you my first attempt, struggle and purchases for my Winter Capsule wardrobe.
A capsule closet includes tops, bottoms and outerwear. So those are the numbers I'm counting as my one in ten pieces in mine. But first I want to talk about the extra stuff.
Undergarments - As many as I need! LOL I'm not worried about pairing down on these. But I think it is important have at least one strapless bra, t-shirt bra and bralette. My go to brand is Lively! I LOVE them. They are gorgeous, comfortable and have a great message behind their brand. PLUS you can get $10 off YOUR purchase with code AMB-thnerdygirlie!
Jewelry - Rings, earrings, necklace and Apple Watch. I wear only gold jewelry so everything always matches. I do want to invest in a simple gold necklace that I can pair with everything and pair down on my necklace collection.
Outerwear - THIS COAT!!!! #swoon. It's great because it has two sides in one! I really want to make this one of my first investments. I do have some outerwear in my capsule, but not much. Obviously living in Denver I have a warm winter coat as well, not pictured.
Ok here we go! My 10 outfits!!!
There are three photos of this one outfit because I started out excited and working on getting using my tripod and remote for the first time! This dress is actually an extra large shirt that I got from Goodwill. Regular black tights. Vest from a thrift shop. Boots from Modcloth {similar}.
I use the same pair of jeans in all of my looks. I just got my first pair of Levis and am loving them. I want to add in a few more pairs just so I'm not wearing the same pair all week. The brown boots are from Vince Camuto and are a bit worn out so ready to upgrade, but I love this brand. White tank from Forever 21 years ago {probably ready for a new one}, "the perfect tee" in blue from Kohl's and grey sweater from Shein. I LOVE Shein, its very inexpensive and if you take care of the clothes it's worth it. It can be hit or miss, though. Make sure you check EVERY size chart, they are all different.
Army green sweater I got at Goodwill and dress is from Shein again!
Sweater is from Goodwill and black shirt is from H&M. I love it, but it is one that you have to iron and you can see that I was lazy on that in this photo! That is an important thing for me. I don't want to be ironing all the time! You can see that I used the "striped dress" as a tee here. Most dresses can be used as shirts or skirts by adding something on top of them or just tucking them in!Whew, that was a lot! And this is just the start and for winter! I want to try to evolve this capsule and keep it more on the neutral side. But this is all stuff I already had in my closet. I didn't purchase anything for this yet!
What do you think about starting a capsule wardrobe? I'm at the age were I really want to look put together and par down on everything! I'd love to hear where you are at in your fashion journey! Share in the comments below and good luck!

I really like the idea of a capsule wardrobe but I don't think I could do it fashion is the area where I'm most expressive so I'm forever experimenting and wearing different looks but I'm all for investing in more staple pieces like a good coat or sweater you can wear for years to come xoxo
