✨ 10 Ways to Keep the San Diego Comic Con Spirit ALL Year Long

Wouldn't we all love to have San Diego Comic Con happen EVERYDAY of the year...yeah me neither! It is an amazing week, but a tiring week as well! Here are 10 ways to keep the SDCC spirit ALL year...but in a much more low key way!
1. Everyday Cosplay. This is one of my favorite things to do. Casual cosplay! Put together looks inspired by your favorite characters and feel like you're walking into a con, instead of work.  Maybe someone will even recognize your look and you just found a new nerd friend!
2. Movie/TV Marathon. Haven't watched The Back to the Future trilogy in a while? Been meaning to finish up that last season of Psych? Well grab some friends, good food and warm up that couch! It is fun to find new things every time you watch. Don't forget to spot the pineapple!
3. Discover a new fandom. We all have a HUGE list of things we want to do. Sometimes work/school/EVERYTHING gets in the way. Take some time during a lunch break or on the weekend to dive into that fandom that has been on the list for a while. Then hop on Tumblr to fan-out about it!

4. Comic book shop crawl. Depending on what kind of town you live in, there is probably one or more comic book shops near you! Make a list, check it twice and go support your local shops. You might even make a friend or two. Many local shops have game nights, make sure you ask and come back soon!
5. Tabletop games. Remember when you signed up for the comic book stores game night? Now is the time to try a brand new board game! Check them out and suggest one that peaks your interest for your NEXT game night! My favorites are Dixit and Munchkin Bites.

6. Connect with likeminded nerds. Getting out there and being among your peers is a great way to make friends and share your love of all things awesome. Check in your area for local groups and if there isn't one near you, make your OWN! I did when I lived in San Diego! Thanks to Twitter, I was able to gather a great group of Geek Gals!
7. NERD-IY.  Invite some friends over and make a night of nerd crafting! You'll have great conversation and end the night with something awesome to wear or use for SDCC next year!
8. Find a nerdy race. The Wonder Woman 5K just came through Denver and it was a blast! Like a mini convention! Exercise builds endorphins and endorphins make you happy! Other fun races to try: the Hot Chocolate 5K (chocolate!!) Rock n' Roll 5K (dance party) and The Color Run!
9. Sport the swag. Where that badge on your jacket. Put your keys on that lanyard. Carry your stuff in your awesome swag bags. You never know who will compliment you on it! Instant friend!
10. Find a con near you. There are so many out there. Some are near and some are far. Do your research, save a bit of money, use that PTO and make a long weekend out of it!

What ideas do you have for keeping up the SDCC spirit throughout the year? Let me know in the comments below and let's keep this list growing till next year!

That's why I love living in San Diego. There are such a handful of nerds here that we have tabletop game nights, cruise the Gaslamp District, have movie marathons and do a lot of general nerd stuff.

I love Dixit! So much fun and the cards are so pretty. My husband and I also like Ticket to Ride.
